Considered to be one of the most important carnival events in the world, the Nice Carnival takes place every year in the February in Nice. The carnival’s duration is of 2 weeks and ends on Mardi Gras. The first mention of the carnival is in 1294, when Charles d’Anjou, the Count of Provence has spent in Nice "the joyous days of Carnival".
