The beach in Nice is one of the longest beaches on the Cote d’Azur stretching all the way from the Airport to the Port. The beach is mostly composed of smooth pebbles, and gets very crowded during July and August. While major stretches of the beach are public, much of it is private, where you pay to rent a spot with mattresses, lounge chair and umbrellas. In Nice, tourists can also find a gay only beach, Coco and a gay friendly beach, Castel.
