For an active and rewarding holiday in Nice, golf might prove to be an elegant solution at hand. In Nice as such there are several golf courses, but for more extensive pursuits, tourists can always rely on the golf courses in the surroundings of Nice or on those which can be spotted throughout the French Riviera. The main drawback of the second alternative is the distance one has to cover between Nice and the said golf clubs.
Yet, on the other hand, most of the clubs throughout the Riviera enjoy a high rating, from both a professional and a tourist point of view, which is why, in the end, the trips are worth making.
Located on the extreme west side of Nice, some 5 kilometers north of the airport, Golf Country Club de Nice features a 9-hole course and of a wide driving range where visitors can practice at leisure. The club also organizes a range of customized lessons, and the golf course is complemented by a restaurant and a pro shop. The course and its infrastructure are accessible to people with reduced mobility too.
Practice Golf Center is, it too, located in west Nice. It is a welcoming a friendly venue suited for the needs of those who want to practice and improve their skills. The driving range as such is complemented by a restaurant and a pro shop. The club takes pride in managing to keep a very fond clientele.
Locally, the center is often referred to as the Marina Golf Club.
The distance between Nice and Golf de Saint Donat is quite considerable, amounting to some 30 kilometers. In fact, this golf club is more suited for those who vacation in Cannes or, why not, Antibes, but some might find the distance between the capital of the French Riviera and the club is worth covering.
Indeed, the club is famed for its high-standard facilities. An 18-hole course, a 9-hole course, an ample driving range and 3 practice courses are the chief elements of the golfing infrastructure. The restaurant invites visitors to delight in trying the fresh locally produced specialties while enjoying the lake view, whereas the pro shop impresses by both its size and the variety of brand items on sale.
A very elaborate range and program of courses have been designed by the club’s instructors in order to initiate the curious in the art of playing golf.
Located in Mandelieu, at a stone's throw from Cannes, Golf Old Course features an 18-hole course, as well as a 9-hole course. But besides its golfing infrastructure, elegantly complemented by a restaurant and a pro shop, Golf Old Course enjoys a reputation able to convince anyone the venue is worth visiting.
Thus, it has the oldest golf course on the French Riviera (it was laid out in 1891) and, at the same time, one of the oldest in France. The professional standards observed by the club are reflected both in the maintenance of the courses and in the way the golf lessons have been conceived. The entire venue is haloed by a classy and refined atmosphere, which gives a touch of finesse to a day spent golfing.
Golf du Claux Amic is located in a hilly region, in Grasse, which makes it ideal for people who spend their holiday in Cannes, Antibes and Nice alike. It was laid out on the site of a former 17th century hunting estate, and it is a tranquil dreamlike venue where both golfers (amateurs or otherwise) and non-golfers can spend their leisure time.
Indeed, besides the 18-hole course and the adjoining golfing infrastructure and programs (a pro shop and golf lessons), the club is also home to a restaurant and to a bar decorated in a surprisingly vivid style where visitors can linger while enjoying the view.
Royal Mougins Golf Club pertains to the luxury Royal Mougins Golf Resort, a resort which also comprises a hotel, a spa center and a restaurant. Obviously, the guests of the resort have the opportunity to enjoy certain special treatments that outside visitors who come here just for golfing do not.
On top of that, the club is an exclusive venue only the club members and their guests can enter. However, should the occasion occur, it should not be missed out. The 18-hole course is the source of a challenging experience: its slopes and ponds do not only increase the sports thrill, but they also provide a genuine aesthetic pleasure to the eyes of those who confine to admiring the scenery.
Also known as Golf Bastide du Roi, Golf de Biot is an alternative for all those who vacation on the east side of the French Riviera (Nice, Antibes, Cannes). Built in 1930, Golf de Biot is one of the oldest golf courses on Cote d’Azur. Reservations are not required in order to enter the 18-hole course, but they are necessary for the golf lessons.
The clubhouse accommodates a restaurant, a terrace, a pro shop, as well as a billiard room.
