There is no shadow of a doubt the South Train Station of Nice does not count as one of the highest rated tourist attractions in Nice. It is a derelict sight which doesn’t even service the purpose to which it was built from the first place.
Built in 1892 by Prosper Bobin, an architect commissioned by the South Railway Company of France for this task, in order to serve as terminal for the trains which linked Nice with Digne-les-Bains, the venue was abandoned in 1991. At present it is the property of the city of Nice, but the restoration plans intended to salvage this historical monument seem to be constantly put off. Parts of the South Train Station were listed as a historical monument in 2002 and 2005.
